4. Minutes of previous meetings 6th October 2021 & 5th April 2022:

Considered Approved

5. Matters arising from previous meeting not covered below:

5.1 General Discussion about situation at practice, noting the recent letter sent out to patients.

5.1.1 The demand on the surgery remains very high, with some patients having very unrealistic expectations, especially with ongoing Covid absences and annual leave over the Summer.

5.1.2 An online Public Meeting hosted by RBC/Cllr. John Furey is being planned for late October. The content would be an explanation of how the surgery is working, what GPs do, etc. with a Q&A format. MK asked for input on what patients would like to hear. Suggestions included ‘why is the waiting room always so empty’ and the Ice-berg of what goes on below the water, now to include end-of-life care.

5.1.3 A more regular presence of PPG members at the surgery was discussed with the possible option of using a space within the ‘comms room’

5.1.4 PPG members could perhaps run a session helping people get the 111 and LIVI Apps

5.1.5 The possibility of recruiting ‘Friends’ as well as PPG Members was discussed.

5.2 Number of Registered Patients: Currently fairly stable at 17079 (16,924 in Jan 2020 / 17251 in Sept 2021)

5.3 Statistics on Activity Levels for period: See separate attachment as already circulated.

5.4 Car Parking: It has not been possible to progress this matter.

5.5 The ‘new’ GPiMHS integrated approach to Mental Health Care was explained. The first point of access remains the GP.

7. Key areas for focus (Update and/or Review):

7.1 Patient Access, incl. Footfall & LIVI – Discussed under 5.1 above

7.2 Patient Feedback/FFT

7.2.1 The FFT was suspended at the starts of the Pandemic. It was restarted in July 2022:

Really Good to share very positive FFT stats for July 2022 – The first month this was switched back on post-Covid:

  • 182 Positive (92%)
  • 9 Neutral (4.5%)
  • ONLY 7 Negative (3.5%)

Considering the pressures that the COFP Team are under this deserves our congratulations and thanks.

I guess we have to accept that the sample might have a slight bias towards the positive in that it is responses from people who have just had an appointment of some kind. (I need to check the detail of that.)

7.2.2 Reminder that other avenues for feedback are as follows – Please encourage usage:

  • The Practice web site: Feedback | The Crouch Oak Family Practice
  • NHS: https://www.nhs.uk/services/gp-surgery/the-crouch-oak-family-practice/H81042/ratings-and-reviews - Note that when you submit a review the site will send you an email to confirm your email address and you simply click on the link to do that.
  • Google Reviews: there is no distinct page for reviews. If you google ‘Crouch Oak Family Practice’ an information panel appears on the right-hand side (when access on computer) and there is a review section towards the bottom.

7.2.3 The recent ‘mini survey’ of patients in the waiting room by DB and CH was noted

8. Any Other Business

8.1.1 These will be at the Surgery and assistance from PPG with stewarding would be appreciated. Dates/times to follow – Initially 15th and 22nd October – Please let CH know if you are available for all or part of these days.

8.1.2 PPG Members are also requested to assist patients with doing a BP (Blood Pressure) check using the two automated systems.

8.1.3 It was suggested that a single page A4 flyer/newsletter be prepared to hand to patients covering items discussed in 5.1 above.

8.1.4 This should also be used as an opportunity for the PPG Members to recruit ‘Friends’ and/or Additional PPG Members. (See 5.1 above)
